The Headquarters for the 2012 ASGA Match Play Championship will be the Innisbrook Golf Resort in Palm Harbor, Florida. Situated on 900 wooded acres of rolling hills and 70 acres of lakes in the St. Petersburg/Clearwater area on Florida's Gulf Coast, Innisbrook is located just 25 minutes from Tampa International Airport. Recently and completely renovated, Innisbrook
features 72 holes of championship golf, 608 spacious guest suites and rooms, four restaurants and three bars, the Innisbrook Golf Institute, 11 tennis courts, the new full-service Indaba Spa with 12 treatment rooms and state-of-the-art Fitness Center, six heated swimming pool complexes, a nature preserve, and three conference halls with 65,000 square feet of meeting space.
Innisbrook is home to four outstanding layouts including the top-rated Copperhead
course, which welcomes the world's finest players each March when the PGA TOUR visits Innisbrook for the Transitions Championship.
While PGA TOUR professionals call Copperhead one of the "Top Five" courses they play all year, most members consider the Island Course to be even better! The Resort recently completed a $2-million renovation on the Island, and it is the site of the LPGA Legend Tour's first major championship; ASGA Members will play both of these courses during the event week.
2011 Match Play Championship
Talking Stick Resort and Casino
Scottsdale, Arizona
April 17-20, 2011

Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona proved to be an outstanding venue for the 2011 ASGA Match Play Championship!! Absolutely perfect weather greeted ASGA players all week with temperatures in the mid-80's and gentle desert breezes. Talking Stick features two great Championship golf courses designed by Bill Coore/Ben Crenshaw as well as a brand new Resort Hotel and Casino that provided first class accommodations, food and service. We welcomed two new Members this week in Arizona, Stuart Bevan of Bronxville, NY and Russ Newman of Fargo, ND who played three outstanding rounds to capture the Championship Division Title! Due to an odd number of players attending, the Championship Division played 54 holes of stroke play, the Stableford Division played 54 holes of net stableford and other flights played elimination matches. John French started slowly, but finished with a tournament-low round of 69 to finish in second place, just 2 shots behind Russ Newman who's steady rounds of 74-75-72 could not be beat. C.C. Coghill bested good friend Ron Rucker to win the First Division, Jim Sullivan beat out Jack Doyle in the finals of the Second Division and Tom Hanson edged Bob Schmidt to take top honors in the Stableford Division. Arlene McKitrick continued her run of outstanding tournament play with gross rounds of 74-78 to lead the Ladies Championship while Shannon Coghill and Betty Edwards tied for the top spot in the Stableford Division. Many thanks to those who participated and helped to make this a very memorable week for all in attendance. Please take a moment to enjoy some of the scenes from Talking Stick below and congratulations to all of the winners. |
