2007 Summary - Naples, Florida   - John French of Bloomfield Hills, MI captured the 2007 ASGA Stroke Play Championship at Naples Grande Golf Club in Naples for the second consecutive year.  As usual, John played steady golf in beautiful conditions over the 54 holes on the 6,550 yard layout.  He followed and opening round one-over par 73 with rounds of 72-76 to finished the event at five over par, 6 strokes ahead of second place finisher Larry Den of Rockville, MD who finished runner up in 2006 as well.  In the Age 65+ Championship Division, George Carpenter of Palm City, FL bettered his age in both of the opening rounds and hung on Wednesday for a one shot victory over Bob Sherman, Ernie Monk and Ned Longson. John Jacob of Columbus, OH captured the top gross prize in the First Division while net honor went to Al Durrett of Ft. Myers Beach, FL.  In what has become a very popular Division, Bud Brylawski of Tequesta, FL had the best Stableford score, two points better than Harry Apkarian of Schenectady, NY.  The ladies were led by Ede Rice whose very impressive rounds of 78-74 took top gross honors while Joan Beasley had the best in net with 70-72.  The Ladies Stableford winner was Fran Gozon and all of the ladies participated in team events each day as well.
