The Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa is one of the South's best-loved resorts. Built in 1913 with granite stones mined from Sunset Mountain, the resort overlooks the city of Asheville, N.C., and provides majestic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. With its distinctive undulating red clay tile roof and original Roycroft furnishings and fixtures, The Grove Park Inn captures the essence of the Arts and Crafts movement. Throughout its massive lobby, words of inspiration from noted authors and anonymous sources are etched in stone. The pure mountain air, impeccable service, and unparalleled cuisine have attracted visitors by the score, from William Jennings Bryan, who delivered the keynote address at the inn's opening in 1913, to Thomas Edison, Will Rogers, Henry Ford, F. Scott Fitzgerald and 10 U.S. Presidents. Grove Park Inn was hailed as the "the finest resort hotel in the world," by newspapers all over the country when it opened in 1913. 100 years later as Grove Park celebrates it's centennial, the original Arts & Crafts furniture and other antique pieces collected over the years, has culminated in the largest collection of Arts & Crafts furniture in the world.
2012 National Two Man Team Championship
Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay - Half Moon Bay, California
July 22-25, 2012

The Ritz-Carlton Resort in Half Moon Bay, California provided an outstanding experience for Members in attendance at the 2012 ASGA National Two Man Team Championship! Cool breezes from the Pacific provided a much needed respite from the extreme heat felt across most of the Country and made for enjoyable days of golf and comfortable evening receptions by the fireside. The event opened on the Old Course with the men playing a round of Chapman format which is always a test of friendships. The final two rounds were Better Ball play on the spectacular Ocean Course with the wind providing much of the challenge on Tuesday. Bright sunny skies and a light breeze was the order for Wednesday as many teams took advantage of the perfect conditions.
As is always the case with ASGA events, the hospitality and camaraderie were featured throughout and we were thrilled to welcome three terrific new couples join us!!! – Roger and Judy Miller of Burr Ridge, IL; Bill and Bev Rulon of San Diego, CA; Bob and Patty Payne of San Diego, CA – to their first event with ASGA and hope that we see them at many more to come.
Some great play also highlighted the week, and congratulations on the Gross side go to Jim Bronner and Larry Harrison who came from behind turning in the best round of the week on Wednesday with a closing 2 under par 70, edging out the team of Roger Miller and Bruce Milligan. Congratulations also go to C.C. Coghill and Mike Brewer who held off a charge from final round fellow competitors James Sullivan and David Harabedian to take home the top Net honor.
The ladies were led by Rekha Lawande who accumulated the most Net Stableford points, besting Kathy Menard in second and Sylvia Ellis in third. Many thanks as always to those who participated and helped to make this a very memorable week for all in attendance.
