2011 National Two Man Team Championship
The Greenbrier - White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia
July 17-20, 2011

The Greenbrier in White Sulphur Springs, WV earned it's reputation among ASGA Members as one of the top Resorts anywhere in the World. During the National Two Man Team Championship last week, The Greenbrier treated a full field of ASGA golfers that included 60 men and 20 ladies along with over 30 non-golfing ladies to an event that featured outstanding hospitality, wonderful food and drink, world-class golf and spacious, renovated accommodations. Non-golfing ladies were welocmed to breakfast each morning and activities that included a private tour of the famous Cold War Bunker as well as an afternoon of croquet. With the recent addition of Monte Carlo-style casino gaming (there were more than a few ASGA Members spotted at the craps table after dinner!!), The Greenbrier truly offered something for everyone and is certainly worthy of a return visit in coming years.

We welcomed two new Members to The Greenbrier, Ted and Joan Fletcher of Beaconsfield Court, Quebec as well as Bill and Jean Leasure of Tampa, FL who are wonderful additions to ASGA.

Among the many great social activities, some terrific golf was played! The competition was held on The Greenbrier Course which has hosted both a Ryder Cup and a Solheim Cup as well as the excellent Meadows Course. The men were led on the Gross side by the team of Tom Hanson and Russ Newman who posted all three rounds under par to finish with a total of -7, 10 strokes better than the very strong second place team of Ned Longson and Larry Den. The best Net score was turned in by Bill Callahan and Rich Dimaio who needed every bit of their final round 64 to hold off a late charge by Steve Chernock and Mick Sutfin who closed with 62 and fell just one stroke short.
Congratulations to Barbara Dimaio who led the Ladies Championship Division with the top Gross score by a single stroke, Judy Adams who posted the best Net total and Carol Longson who captured the Ladies Stableford Division.

Members were treated to a very heart-warming and entertaining talk during the Opening Dinner by Jim Justice, the new owner of The Greenbrier. Many of you know that Mr. Justice has an incredible story and he was presented with the ASGA National Award on Sunday, July 17. The Washington Post recently published a wonderful piece about Mr. Justice, his background and his purchase of the Resort which we would strongly encourage you to read. The ASGA Charitable Trust will be extremely pleased to make a contribution to a youth charity designated by Mr. Justice.

2010 National Two Man Team Championship
Ritz Carlton Half Moon Bay Resort - Half Moon Bay, California
July 11-14, 2010

ASGA Members in attendance were treated to a spectacular week of golf, hospitality, food, drink and weather during the recent National Two Man Team Championship at the beautiful Ritz-Carlton Half Moon Bay Resort. As most areas of the Country continue to struggle with oppressive heat, temperatures in Half Moon Bay were extremely pleasant for golf with overcast early mornings requiring a sweater, followed by brilliant sunshine a few holes into the round. Friendships were tested for the men during the first round of Chapman Alternate Shot, however there were all smiles at the Monday Evening Cocktail Reception and no one disowned their partner.

Congratulations to Mike Howell and Curt Nyhus who made the trip to Half Moon Bay from North Dakota and captured the top Gross prize in the Championship. Dan Snow and Hal Parrish, escaping the summer heat of Virginia, teamed up for a final round 62 to come from behind and take the top net honors.

Jackie Mitchell was tops for the ladies gross prize while Joshan Wise and Ann Lee Levitt both played well, tying for the top net spot among the ladies.

A very special congratulations also goes out to Bob Steele for a Hole in One on the Ocean Course!!!! Many thanks to the 86 Members and Spouses who attended and helped make this a very memorable event!
